in the mirror

yao feng (yao jingming)

translated by christopher kelen and hilda tam

branches are swaying
in the mirror, I see the wind blowing from far

also I see an emaciated face
loneliness has a higher pitch

in order to find you
I must travel to the end of the mirror and out
I have enough loneliness saved

living forever

living forever
yao feng (yao jing ming)

(trans. christopher ‘kit’ kelen and hilda tam)

from Hong Kong to São Paulo, a long journey
the plane, big bird sharp claws removed
flies forever in the starry night

I am imprisoned in the sky
asleep awake
wings seem to grow on me
I keep on flying, I won’t ever land
not even crash

so terrible, as if living forever
