on heartbreak*
jenny oliveros lao

I say– heartbreak is
a wedding dress
after the ceremony–
never to be worn again.

It’s the flowery bell that
ring thrice-–
and then taken down-–
like a bunch of lilies being thrown
and caught then put aside-–

A heartbreak is a banquet
after desserts are served-–
after guests are gone-–
left only the echoes of-–
                                            goodbye
